Guided by the thoughts of the Greek poet Archilochus who stated "the fox knows many things, but the hedgehog knows one big thing," Dr. Philip E. Tetlock, author of the New York Time’s Best Seller – Superforecasting: The Art and Science of Prediction, used the same analogy in his research.  Foxes and hedgehogs have unique cognitive styles.  Mainly, foxes use many strategies while approaching problems, are comfortable with nuance, can live with contradictions.  Conversely, hedgehogs focus on the big picture and are decisive ‘big idea’ people.  Superforecasters are considered the ideal foxes of forecasting.
